Sim Games

Simulation games have been one of the most popular genres of videogames for over two decades. Although they are available on all platforms, simulation games have been most successful on the PC. Among the earliest sim games were textbased computer programs that allowed players to control aspects of the world in unique ways. Whether it was guiding a young child to adulthood or taking control of a tumultuous Latin American nation, these text games were a unique way to take the reigns in a safe place.

Graphics Sim Games

It wasnt until graphics were added that the genre really took off, however. Will Wrights SimCity changed the way gamers saw simulation games. It became a fun, dynamic challenge which was just as interesting to look at as it was to control. The SimCity franchise has since spun off to include titles like SimEarth, SimAnt, SimTower, and of course, The Sims.

Sims can also be accurate recreations of real life events that can be safely enjoyed from home. Flight sims are one of the few titles still enjoyed almost exclusively by PC gamers. In these games, the player takes control of an incredibly accurate airplane and takes to the skies. Whether it is a fighter jet, a passenger plane, or a simple prop plane, the controls, switches, and physics are all specially designed to be true to life.

Today, simulation games come in a variety of different forms war games, life sims, and even a NASA produced simulation of a moonbase. Whether you play online or off, sims are still big business on the PC.
